About Me

I design book covers and I write words.

I've designed for a broad range of clients and projects, including Bloomsbury, Pluto Press, the Higher Education Academy, Continuum, Curious Things, Secret 7, Game Paused and the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme. My work has appeared on The Huffington Post, Minimalissimo, io9, siteInspire and the Serif.

I have a regular column in Creative Review, and have written for MacUser, Brand Perfect, Form Fifty Five, Eye, Grafik, Herb Lester, The Guardian, BBC Comedy, The Designer's Review of Books and Gym Class Magazine.

I've written about all sorts of things over the years, including architecture, brands, cities, design, education, film, grids, hapticity, illustration, jigsaws, Kubrick, Lego, magazines, nocturnity, obsolescence, photography, quietness, romcoms, shelves, typography, umlauts, vinyl, websites, xenomorphs, yellowness and Zool.

I'm on twitter as @gray, plus I edit a weekly design-related newsletter called Meanwhile.
